What do I need to make bloody intestines cinnamon rolls?
The good news about this quick and easy recipe is that you only need two ingredients and a few minutes of your time to whip up this gross looking dessert to serve at your next Halloween party.
To make cinnamon rolls that look like intestines, you’ll need:
-
Pre-made cinnamon rolls
-
Red food coloring
Can you make these from scratch?
Yes, you can also use your favorite homemade cinnamon rolls recipe and homemade cream cheese icing if you want, as well!
We used store-bought cinnamon rolls though — this made it super easy to do because when you unroll them it looks like guts.
How do you cook this recipe?
We used a Chefman TurboFry Touch 8 Quart air fryer to prepare this spooky dessert, but we’ll share how to bake them in the recipe card below.
You can also use any brand of air fryer for this spooky breakfast or dessert.
How to Bake Bloody Intestines Cinnamon Rolls in the Oven
Don’t have an air fryer? These cinnamon roll guts can also be baked in the oven. Arrange the intestines on a baking sheet and bake them according to the package instructions.
Once they are cooked, you can mix in the drops of red food coloring into the icing and cover the tops of the rolls.
How do you make fake edible intestines?
Pre-made cinnamon rolls are the perfect ingredient to use if you want to serve your party guests fake edible intestines!
That’s because the dough is already prepared and cut into the perfect size for forming the shape of intestines for your dessert.
To turn pre-made cinnamon roll dough into edible guts, just use these tips and tricks:
1. Unroll the cinnamon rolls
After removing the premade dough from the package, unroll each circle to make several long pieces of dough. If your cinnamon rolls aren’t made of long pieces of dough, but are stamped instead, just use a pairing knife to cut along the stamp to form one long strip of dough.
2. Coil the dough to look like intestines
Once you have all the dough unrolled, arrange it in your air fryer basket in a winding coil that resembles an intestinal tract. Pinch the ends of the dough together and continue winding until all the pieces have been used.
3. Bake the dough
Use the instructions on your cinnamon roll container to help you determine how long to bake your intestines in the oven or air fryer.
4. Tint the icing red
Add some red food coloring to the icing included in the cinnamon roll package and spread the bloody topping over you baked cinnamon rolls to finish making your creepy zombie guts.
What kind of cinnamon rolls are best for making edible intestines?
You can use any brand of cinnamon roll dough with this recipe! Any rolled up cinnamon rolls are a great option because all you have to do is unroll them, you can make any brand or style or rolls work for you.
This recipe works well with Pillsbury Grands! and also store brand rolls.

Zombie Bloody Guts Cinnamon Rolls
Whether it's a breakfast on Halloween morning, horror movie night with your friends, or a party, these easy cinnamon roll intestines are easy to whip up and serve!
Ingredients
- 1 can of pre-made cinnamon rolls
- 20 drops of red food dye (more or less can be used as every food dye is different, and preferences are different)
Instructions
- Remove buns from the can. Set aside the frosting.
- If buns are rolled, unravel each bun and stretch it out into a strip. If stamped, use a paring knife to cut through the bun along the stamp to “unravel” the bun. Stretch out into a strip.
- Spray the air fryer basket with oil and coil each strip to resemble an intestinal path pinching together the ends. The cinnamon roll will expand so the space between the coils is ok.
- Cook at 300°f for 10 minutes.
- While cooking, mix the red food dye into the frosting until a deep rich red color emerges. Depending on the type of dye you will use more or less.
- Microwave the frosting for 15-20 seconds to thin out the frosting, this will make the simulated blood better.
- Remove the cooked cinnamon roll gently. If you have a basket with a removable tray, remove the tray and slide the roll-off, if not, you can divide the roll into sections and piece it back together on a plate for presentation.
- Pour the frosting over the roll and enjoy.
Notes
